| ADSL Alarm Monitoring System |
OverviewA leading provider of broadband extension and digital voice systems currently uses MOXA’s NE-4100T embedded serial to Ethernet solution. More than 300 Local Exchange Carriers (LEC) rely on the company’s solution to extend the reach and capacity of existing copper infrastructure for delivering ADSL, DS3 broadband and voice services. Recently, the company designed their Network Interface Card (NIC) as an evolution of their Alarm Controller Unit (ACU) using MOXA technology to provide an Ethernet communication interface. This new Ethernet interface allows their customers to manage their ADSL Extension services over existing secure data networks and provides for more efficient tools to maintain services delivered to their subscribers. This new NIC combined with the PC based Advanced Diagnostic tool that is also developed in-house allows full visibility of the ADSL Extension products remotely from a central Network Operations Center located anywhere on the LEC network. With the application of the new NIC, the LEC now has a very cost effective network management tool that manages their products from a single PC platform. SolutionTo provide efficient, fast and reliable remote monitoring capabilities, the company chose Moxa’s NE-4100T embedded device server. With this 24-pin dual-in-line solution and Moxa’s NECI application library, the company was able to integrate quickly an Ethernet interface with the existing ACU functional design by instantly converting an available serial communication port. The NECI library helped in the development of their own interface utility within a couple of weeks. Users may use the examples and libraries, which MOXA provides, to create their own monitoring S/W without extra OEM cost.
