| Unmanned Monitoring System for a Seaport Power Substation |
Overview
Kee-Lung Harbor, an important commercial seaport in Northern Taiwan had recently upgraded its power substation control system with a new SCADA system. A total of 7 substations are located within 9 km of Kee-Lung Harbor. To monitor and control the substations that supply power to the harbor, PLCs were used to control hundreds of power meters. A physical fiber network, combined with MOXA EDS-308 Industrial Ethernet Switches enabled transmission of data to the central control room. A new IP-based video surveillance system was also implemented to monitor the unmanned power substations. SolutionFor enhanced security, each substation needed 1 to 2 cameras to monitor power devices and entrance doors. MOXA VPort 2100 series Video Servers and SoftDVR Pro IP Surveillance Software was used to create a remote video surveillance system based on the existing network. Users are now able to monitor data and video concurrently for each substation with the web interface
